October 10, 2016 (Monday) ISKCON Daiva Varnasrama Ministry (IDVM), India in association with Mayapur Institute started a 6-day (from October 10-15, 2016) Varnasrama Training course on “Cow care” in Sridham Mayapur. The participating students came from variegated backgrounds, a few coming from the Indian subcontinent itself, like Nagpur, Maharashtra and from the local area of Mayapur, while others students coming from across the border like Srilanka, Cambodia and Copenhagen.
The IDVM-India has been conducting several courses related to education, land and cows like cow care and organic farming besides many more on a regular basis in different places including Sridham Mayapur, where its Head office is located. The present course continues IDVM-India’s rich tradition of offering training and education to widen the information base in a seamless manner.
The course started on a solemn note with prayers to the Guru parampara followed by the Introduction session. Ramlakshman prabhu, IDVM-India Secretary welcomed all the participants and gave a formal Introduction to the course and to the associated guest faculties. He also gave a presentation on Shastric references for “Cow Care” based on the teachings of the Founder-acharya of ISKCON H.D.G.A.C.Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada. Later Dr. Sreekala and Dr. Sreekumar took over and conducted the curtain raiser session of the course.
This theory session was followed by a practical class, wherein all the students were taken to visit Mayapur Goshala. Here there was an intense interactive session with Doyal Mukunda prabhu (Regional Director for Mayapur Goshala who is a very experienced and globally exposed personality).
