The two varnas Brahmanas and Kshatriyas play important roles of leadership in the Vedic social system. Therefore, reestablishing Varnashrama majorly involves reinstating proper standards of a Brahmana and Kshatriya. Vaisyas and Sudra varnas exist in the society; though not up to the mark, but visibly predominant. Srila Prabhupada out of great concern identified that society’s ‘head’ brahmanas were practically nonexistent, often referring to this situation as a “headless society”, thus he designed his preaching to especially create Brahmanas (more so Vaishnavas) of high quality. Srila Prabhupada wanted the standardization of the other three varnas especially by developing Varnashrama colleges. It’s the standing order of the Founder –Acharya of ISKCON to establish Varnasharama College in every ISKCON center. “The varnashrama college has to be established immediately. Everywhere, wherever we have got our center, a Varnashrama college should be established to train four divisions: one class, brahmana; one class, kshatriya; one class, vaishya; and one class, shudra. But everyone will be elevated to the spiritual platform by the spiritual activities which we have prescribed. There is no inconvenience, even for the shudras”. But somehow this order is unattended except by IDVM ministry’s (headed by HH Bhakti Raghava swami) humble consistent efforts of conducting Varnashram college courses every year, at least for few months from the last 9 years, inspite of facing so many practical challenges, it has been trying to bring to focus on this important order of Srila Prabhupada.
These Varnashrama colleges are intended to create leaders for ISKCON society and also for society as a whole. The efforts to create well trained spiritually oriented leaders for society is desired, but this may take time and it’s uncertain if the society at large will accept immediately such leaders offhand. Another way possibly could also be that the trained leaders enter the present structure of government and influence the system towards ideal Vedic standards. Stalwart Acharyas like Srila Bhakti Vinoda thakur especially predicted that vaishanavas in future will take to respectable government positions. “The big court judge will be a Gaudiya Vaishnava with tilak beautifully decorating his forehead”. He himself played such prominent role in British government. Using his position’s influence many pseudo spiritualists were exposed and other missionary work got its support.
Bhakta Narendra an active congregation of ISKCON preaching center in Chirala and a strong advocate of Daiva Varnasrama Dharma, recently got selected as Sub Judge in Prakasham district court. He has been practicing Krishna consciousness from last eight years. In his first meeting with HH Bhakti Raghava Swami he got encouragement from Maharaj to grow in his position of a clerk in court to Judge quoting Srila Bhakti Vinoda Thakur. Narendra took this as an order and had been seriously pursuing it. This year (2016) he cleared the written test and stood first (rank) in the district and later got selected in the interview. It’s just the beginning, many challenges stand staring at him, the first being his restricted participation in public programs including the spiritual programs. That means he can’t participate in regular programs in the temple casually as there would be a protocol where he is present. On behalf of Bhakta Narendra I beg to request at the lotus feet of all the devotees to bless him to help turn this opportunity that he has got for propagating the science of Krishna consciousness either directly or indirectly.
